Prunella Scales Biography
Prunella Margaret Rumney West Scales, born June 22, 1932, is a retired English actor known for her role as Sybil Fawlty in the BBC comedy Fawlty Towers. She also received recognition for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in A Question of Attribution and her appearances in the documentary series Great Canal Journeys. Scales was born in Sutton Abinger, Surrey, to Catherine and John Richardson Illingworth. She grew up in Bucks Mills near Bideford in Devon during the Second World War. Scales attended Moira House School on a scholarship. With a successful career spanning several decades, Prunella Scales has left a lasting impact on British television and film.
