Karen Black Biography
Karen Black (1939-2013) was an American actress, screenwriter, singer, and songwriter. Rising to prominence in the 1970s, she became known for her work in both studio and independent films, often portraying eccentric and offbeat characters. With a career spanning over 50 years, Black appeared in nearly 200 films and received numerous accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After studying theater at Northwestern University, Black made her film debut in Francis Ford Coppola's You're a Big Boy Now (1966). She gained further recognition for her role as an LSD-tripping prostitute in Dennis Hopper's Easy Rider (1969).
