Bob Sheppard Biography
Robert Leo Sheppard (October 20, 1910 – July 11, 2010) was a renowned public address announcer known for his long-time work with various New York sports teams, including the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He served as the voice of the Yankees for 56 years, announcing over 4,500 baseball games, including 22 pennant-winning seasons and 13 World Series championships. Sheppard called 121 consecutive postseason contests, 62 games in 22 World Series, and six no-hitters, including three perfect games. In addition, he provided his distinctive baritone voice for New York Giants football games for over 50 years, witnessing nine conference championships, three NFL championships, and the legendary 1958 championship loss to Baltimore.
