It is intended to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will be the second series centered on the character following Daredevil (2015–2018) by Marvel Television and Netflix. The show is produced by 20th Television and features Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock / Daredevil from Marvel's Netflix television series.

The Penguin is an upcoming American television limited series that serves as a spin-off from the film The Batman (2022). It explores the rise to power of the DC Comics character Penguin in Gotham City's criminal underworld. Colin Farrell reprises his role as the Penguin, with Cristin Milioti co-starring. The series is created by Lauren LeFranc and produced by 6th & Idaho, DC Studios, and Dylan Clark Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
